Who's ready for a blurb?
*proceeds to knock down curtains, raising hand*
With the publication drawing ever closer, I think it's time I released a small piece of "The Seven Pawns". Y'all more then deserve it for your patience with me;)
The scene you are about to read is from Queen Athelia's POV. As she slumbers, a nightmare haunts her. Is it a warning? Or is it a threat? Read on to find out for yourself!
...
Athelia closed her own eyes, trying to succumb to some form of rest. Abrax’s earlier words were turning over and over in her mind, like a chaotic mess.
“We can laugh at the same thing are nightmares are made of.”
“We can laugh at the same things are nightmares are made of.”
“We can laugh at the same things…”
“We can laugh…”
A face appeared, laughing manically as if she could see Athelia’s mind and its ignorance amused her.
The face was that of a woman’s. Only that much was clear. Layers of a netted black veil hid her features from view, but Athelia could make out the flash or an eye, black as a raven’s, and crimson red lips, set off by perfect white teeth.
“You think you know nightmares.” The lady crooned. “You think you know pain. You think you’ve seen so much of the world but I can safely promise you have not.” The woman laughed again, her pearly teeth flashing. “For you have not seen me.”
Athelia tried to answer her but the words would not come. She could not speak no matter how hard she tried.
“Oh don’t you worry my dear. You’ll see me face to face in such little time. I simply cannot wait for us to have our little chat. I’ll introduce you to real danger darling. I’ll show you what nightmares are truly made of.”
There was darkness and then there was flame.
I hope you enjoyed this sneak peak of "The Seven Pawns", book two of "The Epta Chronicles"! Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments section below!
Blessings
